About Us

Meet the Team

In high school, I learned that I work with my hands. I loved wood and metal shops. After high school, I pursued my passion for football at Finlandia University. After my tenure there, I moved to Grand Rapids, MI, and worked at a powder coat shop.

During my time in Grand Rapids, my itch for entrepreneurship started. I noticed online that many locals were asking for help taking their docks out of the water at their homes or cottages in the area. It wasn’t long, and with a good reputation and word of mouth, I was busier than I ever dreamed!

While I enjoyed the business aspect, I enjoyed my day job in the powder coat shop. So, one day, I called my brother and asked him if he would be interested in starting a powder coat business back home. He was hesitant as he knew nothing about it, but he was feeling the entrepreneurship itch.

We put our savings together, and with some help from the bank, we got started. We are happy to report that this business is going great; we are up to six employees focused on expanding our equipment to do bigger jobs.

Growing up in the U.P., you are naturally around guns as it is a way of life up here and, to some families, a way to survive. With all this experience in powder coat, the local community kept asking for ways to dress up their guns or protect their guns from the cold and wet conditions we experience up north.

I set out to find a solution that would satisfy both and landed on Cerakote. I picked Cerakote because it is Made in the U.S.A. and is leading the industry for durability, hardiness, and corrosion resistance—everything we need for our shooting environment. You can find out more about Cerakote here.
